Modern Digital Workplace

Over the last several years we have embraced a way of working — Working Out Loud (WOL) and Working Over Distance (WOD) — that has enabled us to deliver projects and services from a variety of work ‘places’ (including but not only from ‘home’). We do this in our Modern Digital Workplace (MDW), which happens to be built on the Microsoft 365 (M365) Ecosystem. The Modern Digital Workplace is a collection of tools and ways of working that use social collaboration techniques to turn any place into a place where work gets done.

The Microsoft applications we use to drive collaboration and share information interact seamlessly within the M365 Ecosystem. With Microsoft Teams at the center of our Modern Digital Workplace, colleagues are equipped to engage in conversations with team members virtually, produce and contribute to in-progress artifacts, and remain informed and connected no matter the location.

A combination of habit changes and better technology has made it possible for us to work consistently over distance without the need to be in a single, physical office. This hasn’t eliminated in-the-same-place and in-person collaboration, but it has allowed us to use those interactions when that is really the best way to accelerate a decision and outcome. Fewer, but more intense and focused, in-person interactions combined with more active and transparent over-distance collaboration is a dynamic formula.
