RF Practitioners Attend Microsoft’s Ignite Conference

Tools and Services to Help Companies and Individuals Effectively Collaborate

November 2019 | Dallas, TX – Earlier this month, members of RealFoundations joined 26,000 technology implementers, decision-makers, developers and data professionals to attend the Microsoft 2019 Ignite Conference. Throughout the 6-day event, comprised of more than 1,500 sessions, Microsoft unveiled updates and announcements across their broad range of tools and services aimed at securely helping companies and individuals collaborate more effectively, put their data to work for them and help employees build expertise quickly.

A few of our takeaways from the event include:

  • Project Cortex – During the keynote, Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella announced Project Cortex, the first new Microsoft 365 service since the launch of Microsoft Teams, and a cornerstone of Microsoft’s vision to transform knowledge and learning for clients and end users. This new tool is scheduled to become available in 2020 and is a cross between a powerful organizer of enterprise content and a digital concierge that brings people the information they need in the context of their workflow.
  • Microsoft Teams – During the event, Microsoft announced and deployed Private Channels within their Teams experience.  Scheduled for early next year, Tasks in Teams will provide a new unified view of an individual’s personal and assigned tasks within Teams. It will consolidate all tasks across Microsoft To Do, Teams channels, Planner and Outlook and provide users with smart views including tasks assigned to them, prioritization as well as start or due date. A new feature rolling out this year is Teams-centric actions and triggers via integration with Power Automateto enable users to create and deploy automated workflows within Teams. Currently, in public preview, Advisor for Teams is Microsoft’s new planning and administration tool to deploy and manage Teams. The platform is aimed at facilitating enterprises to plan and manage successful Teams deployment for their organization, offering recommended plans and a collaboration space for the deployment team to streamline the rollout of all the Teams workloads, including messaging, meetings and calling workloads.
  • Power Platform – Microsoft shared a public preview of a new robotic process automation capability in Power Automate (formerly Microsoft Flow) called UI flows, which lets users turn manual tasks into automated workflows by recording and playing back human-driven actions across software that do not support API automation, with point-and-click experience. Additionally, they shared insights into their recently released AI Builder capability aimed to enable enterprises and individuals to tailor artificial intelligence to their specific needs and data.
