Platform Upgrade Project Improves Data Quality and Performance

 

Project Overview

As a component of a platform upgrade project, RealFoundations partnered with a residential investor and property management client, with $7 billion in real estate assets, to identify and standardize performance measures to achieve greater effectiveness of its operations at the property, regional and corporate office levels. The client recognized that a reliable and robust reporting platform is key to gaining efficiency within the organization.

 

Challenges

  • Fragmented data flows and imperfect integrations created ‘islands of information,’ which made it difficult for users to gather and analyze data when troubleshooting, analyzing and/or reporting on business operations, and
  • Data governance standards for cataloging and defining the core measures and metrics Client used to run its business did not exist.

 

Value-Add Solutions

The approach RealFoundations led to design a scalable, future-state operating model covered:

  • Developed a core Catalog of Performance Measures – created an inventory of core terms and calculations used by specific teams and at the enterprise level to measure business performance,
  • Defined each Performance Measure – standardized definitions with a level of granularity and precision that help guarantee organizational clarity and consistency of understanding, and
  • Ensured that, upon completion of the project, Client resources had the skills and clarity of purpose to maintain, expand and drive organizational adoption of the Performance Measures Catalog.
