International Women’s Day presents us with the opportunity to acknowledge all female employees and applaud the successes of women leaders in real estate.
This year we celebrate Enterprise Managing Consultant Vycky Lara for her professional accomplishments spanning more than 26 years in the real estate industry. Vycky has led a fascinating career, holding senior roles at both The Mills Corporation and Charles E. Smith Realty (a division of Vornado Realty Trust), and serving our country as a member of Naval Intelligence during the Reagan Administration.
Raised in the Washington, D.C. area, Vycky’s family has a long history of public service, with her father and grandfather both working in the White House for various Administrations. Vycky followed in her family’s footsteps, spending her years with Naval Intelligence, serving in the West Wing and the Situation Room, even traveling on Air Force One with the President. While working at the White House as a photographic and imaging intelligence analyst, she was introduced to Charles E. Smith Realty and decided to switch her career to the real estate industry. Vycky worked her way from an Analyst to Senior Manager at Charles E. Smith. Ten years later, Vycky continued her career at The Mills Corporation, where she served as the Director of Lease Administration and Accounts Receivables.
Vycky joined RealFoundations in July 2006 and continues to provide strategic solutions to Real Estate Investment Trusts (REITs) and commercial property managers across the globe. She is a pioneer who helped expand RealFoundations’ JD Edwards practice into Eastern Europe. As a senior leader within the firm, Vycky also spearheads the Women at RealFoundations internal network, a group established to help support other female practitioners in developing and advancing their own careers in what remains a largely male-dominated industry. She has made tremendous contributions to the firm through her executive leadership, business development and service delivery.
