December 2016 | Norman, OK – An endowed scholarship is being presented to the University of Oklahoma Master of Business Administration program by Real Foundation, Inc. to establish the RealFoundations Renée Moorad Memorial MBA Endowed Scholarship Fund to honor the memory of beloved Sooner Renée Marie Moorad.
“Our relationship with the University of Oklahoma and the caliber of graduates we have experienced through Internships and full-time employment have shown an exceptional quality of education and exposure to the real-world work environment that allows them to add value for us as soon as they walk in the door,” said RealFoundations Managing Director Dan Sterk.
Moorad was a dedicated student with a thirst for knowledge that her teachers described as insatiable. She earned her bachelor’s degree in health science from OU in 2007, a juris doctorate from OU Law in 2011 and was a member of the New York State Bar. She was pursuing her master of laws degree in international and comparative law from the George Washington University Law School in Washington, D.C.
Moorad was part of a cohort of young Arab-American activists whose importance it may take future historians to appreciate. In a post-Sept. 11 climate of crisis and confusion for Arab-Americans, Moorad, with the support of a tightly knit group of colleagues, acted on her frustrations and moved to Washington, D.C., where she served in nonprofit civil rights advocacy. Moorad had high hopes, aspirations and dreams for all of humankind. She was a kind, compassionate, loving soul who believed strongly in and fought for, justice and equality for all. She was dedicated to civil rights at home and human rights abroad, especially in Syria, Lebanon and Palestine.
After fulfilling her goals as a civil rights advocate, Moorad moved to Dallas to enjoy extra time with her family and be closer to her Sooners. While in Dallas, she joined RealFoundations, an international real estate consulting firm whose mission is to help real estate companies run better. During her short time with the company, she played a key role in supporting projects across the world and developed close friendships with all her coworkers.
Moorad was the epitome of a self-made, Sooner-born, Sooner-bred superstar. She always put others before herself and was the most loyal employee and friend. She was a driven professional whose passion for work motivated those around her. RealFoundations feels grateful for the time Moorad dedicated to the company and coworkers and would like to keep her caring spirit alive by establishing a scholarship that will help those who are looking to make a difference in the business world.
The scholarship will be awarded yearly to those students who demonstrate academic excellence as well as leadership by serving their community and/or peers in a manner that has positively impacted others and inspired change.
