August 2018 | Hong Kong – On August 17th & 18th, RealFoundations sponsored the first ever ‘Asia PropTech Innovathon – Hong Kong Round’, hosted by Asia PropTech. Similar to a hackathon, the event brought fifteen teams from local universities together to create innovative solutions and present their ideas to over 100 audience members with a chance to win monetary prizes and mentorships from sponsors.
During the proptech hackathon, each team’s business model pitch incorporated blockchain, AI, VR and other technologies that would solve common real estate challenges in Hong Kong like optimizing retail operations and enhancing the customer experience in the residential rental process.
ReVita was the winner of the RealFoundations PropTech Innovators Award, granted for their model which focused on housing affordability/availability by providing a collaborative platform for the development approval process for government, brokers, investors, contractors, lawyers, etc.
Two university teams were awarded with RealFoundations Mentorships, sponsored by the RealFoundations Hong Kong Office. Lead Managing Consultant Paul Chen, Head of RF Asia, will drive this engagement over the next six months in an effort to help refine the students’ business models for future implementation.
